Vanderpump Rules producer Alex Baskin has teamed up with tech mogul Alexis Ohanian, U.S. Women’s National Team forward Midge Purce, and Box to Box Films to introduce a new reality sports docuseries called 'The Offseason.'
The show will shadow 11 NWSL players, including Purce, during a two-week period of 'training, partying, and living together under one roof' in Miami during their offseasons. Financed by Ohanian’s Seven Seven Six, the series is currently in production and will consist of six half-hour episodes.
While Baskin is known for his work on reality shows like Vanderpump Rules and the Real Housewives franchise, Ohanian brings his sports investment expertise to the table. Ohanian and Serena Williams are investors in Angel City FC of the NWSL.
'The Offseason' is breaking new ground by bringing rivals on the pitch together to live in one house. The series aims to delve into the personal stories, relationships, and on-field journeys of these NWSL players.
Purce described the show as a blend of 'Vanderpump Rules' and 'Drive to Survive,' the popular Netflix documentary series about Formula 1.
The collaboration between Baskin, Ohanian, and Purce aims to shed light on women's sports and provide a unique perspective on the offseason traditions of NWSL players.
Box to Box Films co-founder Paul Martin hailed 'The Offseason' as a premium sports docuseries that combines high-end reality TV with the stories of emerging sports stars. The series will offer global audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the journey from sportswoman to sports star.
In addition to Purce, the show will feature Michelle Alozie, Lo’eau LaBonta, Paige Nielsen, Ify Onumonu, Maria Sanchez, Taylor Smith, Nikki Stanton, Taryn Torres, and Ally Watt.
