British comedian and actor Russell Brand has been charged again with serious sexual offences, fuelling concern that he could face a long prison sentence if found guilty. On 23 December 2025 the Crown Prosecution Service authorised two new counts against the 50-year-old: one count of rape and one count of sexual assault. These accusations relate to alleged incidents involving two women in 2009, according to police and court officials.
These fresh charges come on top of five earlier counts that Brand already faces. Those initial allegations include two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault. They relate to alleged incidents involving four women between 1999 and 2005. Brand has denied all of the earlier charges and pleaded not guilty in court.
