New PUC rates in Maharashtra: Check revised charges for two-wheelers, three-wheelers, four-wheelers, petrol and diesel vehicles

The Maharashtra Transport Department has increased the fees for Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates for motor vehicles in the state by 20%, according to a statement issued on Sunday.

All PUC centres across Maharashtra have been instructed to implement the revised rates.

Under the new fee structure, the PUC charge for two-wheelers has increased from Rs 50 to Rs 60.

For petrol-powered three-wheelers, the fee has been raised from Rs 100 to Rs 120. The charge for petrol and CNG four-wheelers has increased from Rs 125 to Rs 150, while the PUC fee for diesel vehicles has gone up from Rs 150 to Rs 180.

A PUC certificate is mandatory under the Central Motor Vehicles Rules for all petrol, diesel and CNG vehicles operating on Indian roads.

New PUC rates in Maharashtra

Vehicle type Old PUC fee New PUC fee
Two-wheelers Rs 50 Rs 60
Petrol three-wheelers Rs 100 Rs 120
Petrol/CNG four-wheelers Rs 125 Rs 150
Diesel vehicles Rs 150 Rs 180

Why has Maharashtra increased PUC fees?

The Maharashtra State PUC Centre Owners Association had sought an increase in PUC testing charges.

The Transport Department subsequently formed a three-member committee to examine the demand. The panel reviewed PUC rates in other states and considered various factors before recommending a revision, the statement said.

PUC centres instructed to display revised rates

Owners of all PUC centres have been directed to prominently display boards showing the revised fees.

Officials have also been instructed to ensure that the new rates are implemented across all PUC centres and that motorists are not charged more than the prescribed amount.

The Transport Department has further directed its 'Vayuveg' flying squads to monitor compliance and ensure that the revised charges are being followed, the statement added.
