A new venue which has been described as a "true pub lover's pub" will be coming to Liverpool's Slater Street this August.
The Red Lion is set to open its doors on August 10 and will feature two beer gardens. The pub will serve cask ales and lagers, pies, pork scratchings and classic spirits and cocktails as well as having dominoes sets, a dart board and television showing sports.
The pub is designed and owned by Rob Gutmann, who has been creating restaurants and bar concepts in the city for more than 25 years and has brought venues including Alma de Cuba, korova, Metrocola and The Old School House to Liverpool.

Speaking of his vision for The Red Lion, Rob said: "Although I've operated pubs in the past, this is the first time I've been involved in originating a pure pub, that is unambiguously a pub and not a bar. I've spent the past year researching what is the essence of the legendary British pub. It's been a hard but fascinating thing to quantify and define.
Rob is aiming for The Red Lion to be an accessible and humble venue that will prove to be popular with punters.
He said: "In every city there are a handful of wonderful, historic, near perfect models of British pubs. In Liverpool I'd quickly cite Peter Kavannagh's, The Phil, ye Cracke and The Belvedere as examples. Our aim was to create a version that felt it could at the very least be talked about as being in the same company as these legendary boozers.
"People can judge for themselves, but we're hopeful they'll really like what we've done with The Red Lion."
Describing what visitors can expect, Rob said: "Our pub look and feel is from the 1940's but acknowledges that most 1940's pubs would've still been referring to Victorian stylings in their interiors.
"The universals we've incorporated into The Red Lion, as well as the visual elements, are a commitment to serving great cask ales and lagers, pies, pork scratchings and classic spirits and cocktails as well as having dominoes sets, a dart board available and showing sports on TVs.
"We're also lucky enough that the exterior of our setting for the pub has two outdoor areas which facilitate great beer garden settings."
