A new source Poll of Polls average of national polling, released Wednesday morning, reveals a tight race in the presidential arena. The average shows Vice President Kamala Harris with 51% support from likely voters, closely followed by former President Donald Trump at 48%.
Among the four surveys included in the average, two indicate a slight lead for Harris, while the other two suggest a neck-and-neck competition. A recent Marquette Law School poll, for instance, depicts a dead heat with likely voters evenly split at 50-50 when asked to choose between Harris and Trump in a head-to-head scenario.
The Marquette poll also sheds light on how registered voters perceive the two candidates. While more respondents view Trump as having a strong record of accomplishments (53% for Trump versus 43% for Harris), a higher percentage believe he has engaged in corrupt behavior (61% for Trump versus 38% for Harris) and consider him too old for the presidency (59% for Trump versus 13% for Harris).
Despite these contrasting views, both Harris and Trump are widely regarded as strong leaders by most registered voters. Another poll by Marist College, released on the same day, shows Harris leading with 52% support compared to Trump's 47% among likely voters in a head-to-head matchup.
