New Pokemon Scarlet and Violet patch fixes game-breaking bug

Nintendo released the notes for the upcoming Pokemon Scarlet and Violet patch, outlining several fixes for the monster-catching RPG, including one for a game-breaking bug. The patch still doesn’t have a release date, but Nintendo said the plan is to release it sometime before the end of February, which is coming up pretty fast.

Chief among the bugs to quash is the one that randomly crashes the game. Game Freak’s fix apparently involves reducing how much the game has to render. The patch notes mention the game will spawn fewer Pokemon and people in towns and in the wild to help avoid crashes. You also won’t see random NPCs sauntering through your major Pokemon battles anymore.

Hopefully, this particular change will address some of the games’ framerate problems as well, though Nintendo didn’t mention any performance tweaks in the patch notes.

Tera Raids should finally be more stable after the patch as well. Game Freak will fix bugs that caused communication errors and the wrong Pokemon to be displayed on different players’ screens, along with the bug that caused your entire Tera team to faint if just one Pokemon got knocked out.

Other planned fixes include improvements to the nicknaming system, resolving problems that occurred during trades, and correcting issues with the ranked system and battle teams.

Nintendo reaffirmed its promise to continue supporting the game and said more patches are planned for the future.
