New Pokemon Pokopia update addresses early-game softlocking and more, because we all deserve to meet Mosslax ASAP

Pokemon Pokopia Mosslax.

There's a new Pokemon Pokopia update upon us, squashing bugs and addressing issues with Pokedex entries, certain quests, and softlocks.

Nintendo unveils the new patch, which brings the game to version 1.0.2, in an announcement online alongside some handy instructions on how players can update Pokopia.

The first two changes come to early quests, "Rock smash your way to treasure!" and "To Snorlax!" They basically just make progression easier, as certain block placement can make it "difficult to understand how to progress the request" pre-patch.

There's a plethora of other tweaks for quests, too, including ones that tidy up some softlocks. For instance, during the "Help make a home!" request, Squirtle can get stuck in a tree and become impossible to chat with... you know, preventing progression. Now, this shouldn't happen anymore.

There's also a bit of a pre-update bug in "Find the Pokemon Center!" in Bleak Beach, where progress is halted if players break the bridge's cracked blocks early.

Other changes Nintendo lists are similar, mostly affecting quests and situations that could prevent a player from progressing. It's one of those areas that can be tricky to nail, after all, as Pokopia does allow for full creativity, but it also has a more streamlined story to follow for ability unlocking and such.

While I (thankfully) haven't encountered any issues myself, a quick browse on Reddit shows others certainly have.

For anyone wondering how to update – and you do need to if you want to continue using the game's online features – simply navigate to your Switch 2 home screen and select Pokopia without opening it. Then, press the + button or – button on your Joy-Con. The current version number will pop up, and you just need to select "Software Update" and "Over the Internet."

Et voilà! You're all set to enjoy 1.0.2.

Here's hoping Nintendo continues rolling out the updates – and perhaps even addresses fans' requested features, like a better GameShare and multiplayer mode.
