Princess Charlotte beams ahead of her seventh birthday on Monday as she cuddles her family’s beloved black cocker spaniel Orla.
The stunning smiling photograph was taken by the Duchess of Cambridge herself while the family were staying in Norfolk last weekend. Kate Middleton stayed up late on Sunday night as part of her tradition in celebrating birthdays by baking her children their own cake, as reported by the Express.
The duchess revealed her long-standing tradition in 2019 when she and husband Prince William appeared on a special BBC programme with baking expert Mary Berry called A Berry Royal Christmas. On the show, she spoke of her love for baking and told Mary that when it comes to her children’s birthdays: “I love making the cake.”

“It’s become a bit of a tradition that I stay up ‘til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it.”
Princess Charlotte is William and Kate’s middle child who is known for her confident and cheeky persona.
She and her brothers George and Louis have largely grown up away from the spotlight - only appearing at limited royal events.
However, all three of them are reportedly being lined up to take starring roles in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations - with the trio maybe taking part in carriage rides at Trooping the Colour.
Orla the pooch is relatively new to the Cambridges but helped them get over the devastation of losing their last pet dog Lupo.
The dog was gifted to them as a puppy by the Duchess’s brother James Middleton and arrived at Anmer Hall, the family’s home in Norfolk, before Lupo died - as it was hoped the younger dog would give Lupo some company and a little more life and energy.
