Penneys has opened its much-anticipated new store in Dundrum Town Centre.
The enormous outlet has 64% more shopping space, earning it the title of being the third largest Penneys store in all of Ireland
Throngs of curious shoppers queued from early this morning to be the first ones in as the Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment Neale Richmond cut the ribbon, officially unveiling the bigger and better store.
It follows a massive €16 million investment and the creation of 130 new jobs, bringing the total headcount at the store to 360.

The new store boasts a range of amazing features and it has even teased the end of queues.
As well as having a much wider range of fashion, accessories and homeware collections, it also promises “a slicker and quicker shopping experience”.
There are 32 new self-checkout tills across two floors alongside traditional till services.
Other new features include a a new in-store beauty salon, operated by Nails, and a vintage and one-off clothing concession called WornWell by the Vintage Wholesale Company.
Head of Penneys Damien O’Neill commented on the opening: “I’m so delighted to welcome our valued colleagues and customers into our long awaited bigger and better store in Dundrum. This has been a significant project for our property and retail teams, and the finished result looks incredible.
“Between the expanded product range offering even more great-value fashion and essentials, and all our new in-store services, we think customers new and old are going to love Penneys’ amazing, expanded retail space.
“Our continued investment in our Irish business demonstrates the confidence and commitment we have in our home market, and we are proud to continue to play our part in supporting Irish cities, towns and communities.”
Neale Richmond TD, who opened the store, added: “This €16 million investment by Penneys in Dundrum is hugely welcome and highlights the attractiveness of Dundrum Town Centre as a place to do business. With over 400 stores around the world, Penneys is a true Irish success story.

This is a significant week of expansion for Primark’s international footprint as it opens four new stores in three days across Europe and the US, and an extended store in the UK.
Earlier this week Primark opened its second store in Romania in the city of Bucharest, while today the retailer also opens its first store in Lanzarote, Spain - its 58th in the Spanish market,
A new store in Long Island, New York,also becomes its 18th store in the US.
On Friday Primark will open its newly extended store in Liverpool, UK. This will bring the total number of Primark stores globally to 425.
