NEW paths are being constructed to improve safe access to Culloden Moor for walkers and cyclists.
Work is to start next week on new walking, wheeling and cycling paths at Culloden Moor.
Highland Council has warned the public that the work will cause some disruption, but improve safe access in the area.
Paths alongside the C1028 up the hill from Balloch and the B9006 at Culloden Moor will be closed from Monday, October 21 until Saturday, October 26 and again from Monday, October 28 until Thursday, October 31.
The improvement will provide a surfaced path network from Balloch and Viewhill to Brookfield and Sunnyside. Visitors to the Culloden site will be able to use the paths until the Batlefield Restaurant and Bar.
Marking the spot of the last major battle on British soil, the moor at Culloden is the resting place of an estimated 1500 Jacobite and 50 Government soldiers who fought and died there in 1746.
The woodland car park will be closed to public access on these dates and a temporary 30mph speed limit will be in place.
Temporary traffic lights will also be in operation on the roadside section at Brookfield during the construction works.
Highland Council said it apologises for any inconvenience.
