Visitors in New Orleans for New Year’s festivities and the Sugar Bowl are being advised to steer clear of Bourbon Street, the city’s renowned entertainment hub, which has now become a crime scene. Mayor LaToya Cantrell made a public announcement on Wednesday morning, urging the public to stay away from the area encompassing eight blocks around Bourbon Street.
Emergency responders from various local, federal, and state agencies have been on-site since early Wednesday morning following distress calls that were received for assistance. The situation on Bourbon Street is currently being handled with the utmost urgency and caution by the authorities.
