The newest popcorn disaster film from the genre's foremost director tops the DVD releases for the week of April 26.
"Moonfall": Roland Emmerich is up to his usual tricks in this movie about a group of astronauts trying to save the planet after the moon is mysteriously knocked from its orbit, setting it on a collision course with Earth. Featuring Halley Barry, John Bradley and Patrick Wilson.
"In Emmerich’s career of perpetually putting Earth at the edge of violent extinction with 'Independence Day,' 'The Day After Tomorrow,' '2012' and others, this one’s the trippiest of all," writes Chicago Tribune critic Michael Phillips in his review. "His vision of the world, and how to save it, again, contains multitudes of both punishment and payoff, and 'Moonfall' offers a unique hybrid: the payoffishment."
