A former menswear shop in Nottingham has been transformed into a pub but the name hasn't changed. In a nod to the property's former life, it will still be known as the Whistle & Flute, which is Cockney rhyming slang for a suit.
After a major makeover the former shop, in Derby Road, now rocks an industrial vibe. Reclaimed timber has been used for the decor, walls have been stripped back to original red brick and pipework is a design feature around the bar.
Customers can sit on comfy sofas and armchairs or stools at solid custom-made wooden tables and sup a pint of Shropshire Gold bitter or Hazmat, a session IPA. Real cider, wines and spirits will also be on sale. The finishing touches are being put to the decor ready for opening at lunchtime on Good Friday, April 15 - certainly making it a good Friday for local drinkers at the Canning Circus end of the city.
