New Netflix show The Butcher of Delhi blasted as "too gory" by fans who switch off

Netflix fans have been left horrified by the new true crime series based off The Butcher of Delhi.

The new series, based off a true story, follows the notorious Indian killer and the trail that he left in his way, but some viewers have been calling for a harsher warning

With the aid of a police informant network, cops identified the killer as a man named Chandrakant Jha. He is believed to have killed seven victims between 1998 and 2007 in west Delhi.

Having left notes mocking investigators alongside the bodies, it was determined the killer craved attention.

In 2002 he was arrested but released soon after due to a lack of evidence. When out, he continued his killing spree, choosing his victims after falling out over petty arguments and lies.

"Just finished watching #TheButcherOfDelhi and my god, it is chilling. To imagine the psychology of such criminal as Chandrakant Jha and how he committed those horrific crimes is beyond. A must watch!" wrote one viewer.

"Very disturbing especially the last episode which reveals some chilling stories from villagers." tweeted a second.

But others couldn't finish the series due to the violence.

"I am a sucker for documentary films but #TheButcherOfDelhi has too much gore in it to continue watching. Left midway." wrote one person

"Enough webseries showing blood and gore for us to now watch it in documentaries too. Enough human stories of pain, suffering and injustices," added another.

In February 2013, serial killer Jha was found guilty on three counts of murder and received two death sentences and life imprisonment until death.

Jha is still in jail and his parole privileges were revoked in January 2020.
