New mum who bought £10 raffle ticket after husband forgot wins huge £3.5m mansion

A couple nearly blew the chance of winning a stunning £3.5million mansion after forgetting to buy a raffle tickle for the first time.

But new mum Becca Pott got in quick to buy their £10 ticket after it slipped husband Ben's mind - and they are glad she came to the rescue.

The competition regulars are now set to trade their small East London flat for the massive five-bedroom home in Ascot, Berkshire.

Becca, who is on maternity leave after the birth of daughter Ava last summer, picked up a ticket for the Omaze Million Pound House Draw after Ben, 32, forgot.

The win means Ava will now spend her first birthday in the stunning property, which boasts four bathrooms, three dressing rooms, a hot tub and a state-of-the-art kitchen.

Becca said: "My husband had entered every Omaze Million Pound House Draw prior to this one, but somehow he'd forgotten to enter on this occasion.

"Luckily I decided to buy a £10 ticket bundle in January without him knowing after seeing the house on television, I'm never going to let him live this down!

"The house is incredible, we've been wanting to move to somewhere bigger since our daughter Ava was born, now she'll be having her first birthday in a mansion!"

Becca, a finance analyst, and Ben, an accountant, have been married for two years and had their first child Ava last summer.

The excited mum said: "We didn't have space for her grandparents to come and stay in our two-bedroom flat, but now they can have the entire third floor when they visit.

"This win is truly life changing for us, we'll stay here and enjoy the house for the summer at least, but whatever we decide to do, we know Ava is set for life.

"We think the partnership between Omaze and Cancer Research UK is fantastic as it's raising money to help the charity continue its incredible work."

The couple found out they'd scooped the main prize when the team from Omaze paid a surprise visit to their flat.

Ben was in a supermarket - so had to rush home to hear the good news.

The new home has a large, pillared entrance porch which leads visitors into the spacious entrance hall complete with fireplace and lift.

All stamp duty and legal fees are covered, and the lucky couple have also been given £20,000 in cash to help settle-in. They are free to either live in the house, rent it or sell it.

As well as making Becca and Ben multi-millionaires, the draw has also raised vital cash for Cancer Research UK's life-saving work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

The innovative fundraising campaign with Omaze has provided Cancer Research UK with a donation of £500,000.
