Rebel Wilson detailed the heartbreaking moment she was told she had "no viable embryos".
The new mum, who has just welcomed her first child via surrogate, opened up about the devastating ordeal in a new magazine interview.
The Pitch Perfect star, 42, spoke in a candid conversation just days after announcing her new arrival, a baby daughter named Royce Lillian.
Rebel recalled the moment she received the awful news that eggs she has harvested had 'not survived being thawed' while shooting The Almond and the Seahorse.
"I'd lost a huge amount of weight and been through 3 surgeries at that point and no viable embryos. It was devastating," Rebel revealed.
Speaking to People, she explained that her "desire to become a mother" was "so strong" that she "needed to keep trying" despite the setback.
"It was feelings of loss, feelings of hope — and it all played into my performance. It was a very emotional time," she explained.
She told the outlet that holding her daughter for the first time was "overwhelming and exciting" after sharing the news with her fans.
"My love for her is just overflowing. She is gorgeous and perfect," she explained.
In a heart-warming post on Instagram, Rebel, who is in a relationship with designer Ramona Agruma, introduced her first child to her followers.
"Beyond proud to announce the birth of my first child, Royce Lillian, born this past week via surrogate," she penned alongside a picture of the newborn.
"I can’t even describe the love I have for her, she’s a beautiful miracle! I am forever grateful to everyone who has been involved, (you know who you are), this has been years in the making…
"But particularly wanted to thank my gorgeous surrogate who carried her and birthed her with such grace and care.
"Thank you for helping me start my own family, it’s an amazing gift. The BEST gift!!" [sic]
Her post continued: "I am ready to give little Roycie all the love imaginable. I am learning quickly…much respect to all the Mums out there! Proud to be in your club. [heart emojis]" [sic]
Rebel went public with her relationship with Ramona in June. At the time she posted: "I thought I was searching for a Disney Prince."
She explained: "But maybe what I really needed all this time was a Disney Princess. #loveislove [sic]" - followed by a flurry of love heart emojis.
