New Motability scheme available to disability claimants who meet these five eligibility criteria

Adult Disability Payment has started to replace Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for new claimants living in Dundee City, Perth and Kinross or the Western Isles.

The new benefit means that people of working age with a disability, long-term illness or physical or mental health condition can now apply for support to Social Security Scotland instead of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) for PIP.

Existing PIP and Disability Living Allowance (DLA) claimants with ongoing awards from the DWP do not need to apply for Adult Disability Payment, their awards will be transferred automatically to the new Scottish system from August 29, 2022 - with no break in entitlement or payment. Social Security Scotland will write to claimants in advance of the transfer process starting.
