New mock trade has Bulls sending Nikola Vucevic to Spurs in a deal

As the Chicago Bulls look for ways to improve the team, one route is to go via trade in order to get the right pieces around DeMar DeRozan and, hopefully for them, Zach LaVine as they look to move forward with this current group.

The team struggled on the defensive end in a big way during the season and there is a school of thought that maybe the Bulls could use a more defensive-minded big man.

Chicago’s current center is Nikola Vucevic who is one of the more skilled big men in the league and somebody who can step out and knock down a 3-pointer to make life easier for the team’s stars.

With that being said, he is not the greatest defender and a mock trade performed by Bleacher Report has the Bulls sending Vucevic to the San Antonio Spurs for Jakob Poeltl, Josh Richardson, and a second-round pick via the Los Angeles Lakers:

Chicago does this trade to improve the team’s overall defense, getting Poeltl as challenge-everything big man inside while Richardson serves as a perimeter stopper.

The Bulls also pick up a second-rounder in this year’s draft after striking gold with their second-round selection a year ago with Ayo Dosunmu.

The Bulls should at least consider moving Vucevic in order to grab a defensive big man. They will not move forward if they cannot get consistent stops in order to help the offense succeed out on the floor. Chicago should be looking to use both DeRozan and LaVine in transition more often.
