A video obtained by KOB4 appears to show New Mexico State starting quarterback Diego Pavia urinating on the logo of The University of New Mexico.
In the video, Pavia appears to be urinating on the Lobo logo at midfield of New Mexico’s indoor practice facility.
Aggies offensive coordinator Tim Beck, who handled press conference duties on Tuesday in the absence of head coach Jerry Kill, addressed the situation with reporters, and said that he was disappointed by the incident.
“We’re disappointed in what happened. That’s one of those things where we’ll deal with him and deal with it internally and move on,” Beck said, via KTSM. “You have high expectations for all your players. We’re disappointed in his actions, disappointed in what happened, but it will be handled internally and then we’ll move forward.”
Beck, who’s remarks came after a spokesperson told KTSM that the school was aware of the video’s existence on Monday, said he believed there was some debate about the timing of the video. New Mexico hosted New Mexico State earlier this season on Sept. 16, though he stated that it was his understanding that the incident occurred prior to the season.
Beck added that he was not aware of any punishment handed down to Pavia of yet. A school spokesperson similarly did not reveal any sort of discipline to KOB4, saying that “any information regarding the potential discipline of a student would be protected under federal privacy laws.”
Pavia, a senior, is in his second season at New Mexico State. He’s thrown for 10 touchdowns and four interceptions across five games this year.
