Met Eireann has issued another weather warning this afternoon as thunderstorms hit several counties into the evening.
The status yellow thunderstorm warning is in place today for Meath, Cavan, Monaghan, and Donegal as potential lightning strikes are expected alongside heavy showers.
It is in effect from 15:35 until 18:00 as the Irish forecaster warns of “thunderstorm activity” which “will lead to occasional lightning strikes with heavy showers possible.”

Earlier today, meteorologists put a warning in place for Co Cork, as “heavy showers” moved in along with “possible isolated thunderstorms” and “spot flooding.”
This status yellow rain warning has been in effect for the southern county since 9:35 this morning and remains active until 20:00 this evening.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will be faced with widespread showers as wekll, many of which will be heavy with isolated thunderstorms possible.
Localised downpours may lead to spot flooding in areas outside of the active warning, but there will also be some limited bright intervals. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees are expected in moderate southeasterly winds, with stronger winds along the south coast for a time.
There will be even more showers later tonight, mainly over the southern half of the country where some may be heavy, but it will be drier and clearer further north. Lowest temperatures of 12 to 14 degrees will move in with east to northeast breezes easing light to moderate.
Tomorrow, Thursday will bring sunny spells with showers mainly in eastern areas before spreading nationwide during the day. Some of them will be heavy again with a possibility of an isolated thunderstorm.
Despite the grim week, it is to become drier for many later in the day with highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in light to moderate northeast breezes.
“Showers will mostly die out and it will become largely dry for a time on Thursday night,” the forecasters predicted, “then rain will spread from the northeast and extend southwards, mostly affecting eastern counties.”
Speaking about the remainder of the week, Met Eireann said: “On Friday showers will be less intense and become less frequent through the day. Highest temperatures will range from 18 to 21 degrees in light to moderate northwest breezes.”
However, “there is a lot of uncertainty within the outlook period due to hurricane activity in the North Atlantic.
“At the moment Saturday looks like being mainly dry with good sunny spells. Highest temperatures of 20 or 21 degrees with light variable breezes.
“Current indications suggest that Sunday will start off dry, with rain spreading from the southwest and turning heavy. The further outlook period in to the early days of next week suggest continued unsettled conditions with rain at times and temperatures above the seasonal norm.”
