New map of Liverpool confirmed with many living in new areas

A new map of Liverpool has been confirmed for the city.

The final proposal has been decided that will see the city broken up into different wards. Many people could find themselves living in new areas with new names.

The ECHO first reported proposals to change the electoral map of the city back in December as part of the council's improvement plan following last year's shocking government inspection report. The report identified a number of failures in how the city had been run.

Driver runs from scene after passenger left injured in car crash

A Lancashire Police helicopter spent the evening searching for a driver who had fled the seen of a crash, leaving a passenger injured in their car.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson told the ECHO : "We were called to Renacres Lane, Halsall, at 7.38pm on Tuesday, after a collision between two cars. Two people suffered minor injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

"The driver of one of the cars left the scene and enquiries are continuing to trace that person."

Reminisce festival warning issued following 'nightmare' last year

Merseyside police have issued a warning ahead of Reminisce festival this weekend.

The annual 90s dance festival takes place on Sherdley Park in St Helens and is estimated to bring around 20,000 people into the area. Police have warned festival-goers to enjoy themselves "safely" following last year's issues.

Chief Superintendent Mark Wiggins said: “I want to reassure the community living near Sherdley Park, as well as festival goers, that our officers will be on duty in and around the park throughout the event, supporting the security teams which are organised by Reminisce and supported by St Helens Council."
