Business advisory firm RSM has appointed Richard Urron as its new office managing partner in its Newcastle office.
Mr Urron takes over from Steve Railton who has led the office since 2013. Mr Railton will continue to be involved with the Newcastle office through his client portfolio and his regional role within the accounting and business advisory team. The new managing partner joined RSM’s Newcastle office in 2011, following the merger with The Charlton Williamson Partnership, having begun his career within a Big Four firm. During his time at RSM, he has been promoted to partner and led the office’s corporate tax team.
He said: “I’m delighted to have been asked by Steve to take on this leadership role. Having the opportunity to become the managing partner of our exceptional team in Newcastle is a great next step for my career and I’m looking forward to leading the office and continuing our exciting growth plans.”

Mr Railton said: “I am delighted that Richard will be succeeding me in this role. The Newcastle office has grown significantly over the last 10 years. I am proud of what we have achieved and am looking forward to working with Richard and the senior team to continue this growth in the future.”
Alex Tait, RSM’s regional managing partner for the North East and Yorkshire, said: “Steve’s leadership has taken our Newcastle team from strength to strength. Passing the office managing partner role on to Richard, who has worked in Newcastle for all of his professional career, will ensure that the experience and understanding of regional businesses seamlessly continues.
“We’re committed to supporting our people and helping them succeed, by providing them with the right training and a culture which empowers them to shape their own careers. It’s great to see Richard progress through the business and now taking on a leadership role in the office where his RSM career first started.”
