Fans were left stunned as new Love Island new contestant Ekin-Su Culculoglu made a shocking attempt at a West Country accent while on a date with Andrew Le Page - including the little known phrase ‘ooooh there’s a pineapple under the sea.’ .Fans took to Twitter to give their verdict when Ekin-Su made her fairly appalling effort and were surprised that she seemed to think a major theme of West Country life is all about pirates.
As they chatted on the sofa Andrew said to Ekin-Su: “How are you settling in?” Ekin-Su replied: “I’m good I really want to get to know you - where you’re from, what are your hobbies.”
Andrew replied: “I’m from a little island called Guernsey then I went to school in Somerset.” Ekin-Su saw her opportunity and stormed in saying: “Sommmmmerrrrrsetttt.” In a rather poor West Country accent.

That didn’t put her off though and she continued with the excruciating effort: “Aye aye captain. I can’t hear you.” See a clip of her effort at the top of the story. And there was even more: “Oooooooh there’s a pineapple under the sea.” To be fair she did then apologise - and Andrew, being a west country gent said: “That’s all right.”
Her efforts caused a storm online: Nas said on Twitter: “Nah Ekin Su is doing the most now…going overboard with the West Country accent #LoveIsland.” Beffy Jones added: “New take on the West Country accent: they’re all pirates #LoveIsland”
Some weren’t fans of the dulcet tones with Sam Packman saying: “Hearing a West Country accent on TV just makes me cringe tbh #LoveIsland”
Jess Holland said: "when ekin su TRIED that accent… plz.. stop… NOW #LoveIsland"
Rhys Thomas added: "I just got the ick watching ekin su do that accent #LoveIsland"
