A new well-being and beauty lounge has opened in Long Eaton. The Beberries Lounge launched on Derby Road last month after owner Eva Igwubor wanted to expand her online beauty business, which began during the pandemic in 2020.
The aim of the lounge is to offer a well-being experience as well as a shopping setting. The 39-year old said: “The whole reason for the lounge is where people can just come and relax, and browse at anything they like.
“If you don’t want anything but you just want to come and relax, talk about anything to do with beauty or well-being, that's fine. That's the whole idea.”

Eva was previously a full-time housing manager. She decided to focus on her passion for make-up and left her role to open the Beberries Lounge. Although Eva lives in Derby she opened the store in Long Eaton to cater to both residents in Nottinghamshire and Derby.
She said: “I started this in 2020, during Covid time. I was working full-time as a housing manager - I just thought go into beauty, look at things that you like doing and just get started, just start - if it works it works. So I started from the house. I had a website and I had a few people loving my products because all the make-up products are my own brand."
Eva added: “So far so good. I’ve always been passionate about anything to do with beauty, from make-up to hair and my looks.
"Within make-up I can be my own person and have that confidence. I can be my own self, be proud of who I am, present myself. I can feel good inside as well as well presenting myself on the outside.”
Eva has created a two-in-one beauty experience where her customers can shop for hair and make-up products at the front of the store - or in the back get a range of treatments in her beauty studio. With her online pre-booking system, people can get their make-up done or a wig installation or wig revamp.
She said: “We do make-up - we have a studio at the back. We have the front section which is the retail section. This is why I say it's a lounge - people can come in to relax, have their make-up done and there’s also refreshments to welcome them in.”
She explained how business has been since opening in December. She said: “I would say because I just started in December with a physical shop it's been a bit slow because it’s January and a lot of people have spent over Christmas.
“I still have a lot of people ordering online but it’s slow coming into the physical one. I believe it’s going to kick off very soon because people are getting to know that now there is a physical shop and no longer just a website. It’s slow for now but my online business is still going up. People who know me, who know my product are still calling to put in orders.
“Going forward I’m looking into expanding more and looking towards more of a spa.” The Beberries Lounge is open Monday to Saturday from 9.30am to 5pm.
