‘Elective Care Hubs’ are being set up in Leeds to tackle the backlog of patients needing surgery due to the pandemic.
The first of these hubs is being developed at Wharfedale Hospital in Otley and will take the form of an expansion of the existing ward in the hospital so it can operate overnight seven days a week.
Elective care refers to planned treatment such as pre-planned surgery rather than unplanned treatment such as accident and emergency care.
