Schoolchildren could be taught how to treat severe bleeding following stabbings or car crashes if a proposed new law successfully passes through Parliament.

Under the legislation, pupils would be taught how to recognise "life-threatening bleeding" and administer emergency treatment, alongside learning how to effectively respond during a crisis.
