The new landlady of a popular Nottingham pub which closed earlier this year has spoken of her excitement about re-opening the venue this summer. The Whitemoor, in Bobbersmill, was boarded up following the surprise closure in March, with the entrance also being blocked by bollards.
But Jane Longden has now taken on the family-friendly pub and spoke of her desire to launch it as a community hub. Jane, who has a background working in pubs, says she is determined to offer nearby residents a friendly, welcoming space where they can bring their children and relax.
"I want to make it the hub of the community again. It's gone well in the past then after Covid hit, it didn't take off as much as it could have. I'm hoping to get different things like toddler group and bingo going but I want to find out what people want from their local pub. It's less what we want to do but what do people want from their community pub?" Jane, who has spent the last few years running care homes, said.
