There is nothing quite like the thrill of finding a cheap getaway or a discounted plane ticket.
It is why many spend hours clicking between different flight aggregator sites and wait to book in the hopes of that last-minute "flight deal" despite data showing that the most is saved by booking early.
Don't Miss: A top airline just accidentally gave a passenger $250,000 in plane tickets
But the idea of the last-minute price drop persists and, to reach those who look for them, airlines regularly launch get-them-while-you-can promotions around certain holidays.
These are the airlines offering Labor Day flight deals (you have to book fast)
At the start of August, New York-based airline JetBlue (JBLU) -) launched a three-day promotion for those who could book a flight between Sept. 6 and Nov. 15. The promotion offering $50 flights between Charleston and NYC and a flight and two-night stay in Cancun for $278 proved popular — the airline is now offering the same version of its Big Fall Sale for those who book by midnight of Aug. 24.

One can also book a roundtrip flight from New York and two-night hotel stay in Las Vegas for $368 and the same for Aruba for $567. Taking advantage of the low fares will require some planning ahead as one will need to book one's travel for between Sept. 6 and Nov. 15 outside Fridays and Sundays.
Seattle-based Alaska Airlines (ALK) -) is also offering a three-day sale for those who can book in advance. Tailored primarily for West Coasters, the promotion is offering those who can book by the end of Aug. 24 one-way flights between Los Angeles and Cancun for $119 as well as San Diego and Puerto Vallarta for $99.
Travel dates need to be between Sept. 6 and Feb. 14 and begin at the airline's lowest Saver fare that would require the traveler to pay extra for baggage and seat selection. Flights can be booked directly on the airline's website.
That cheap Bahamas cruise? Score a cheap rate if you're a teacher or in the military
For those who prefer the cruising lifestyle, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville launched its Back to School, Back to Sea sale offering teachers, first responders, active military members and government employees $49 rates for a cabin aboard its Margaritaville at Sea cruise around the Bahamas.
The rate gives one a cabin with room for the person and one other guest aboard the three-day, two-night journey between Florida's Palm Beach and Grand Bahama Island departing on a weekday. Travelers can also pay to upgrade to a weekend sailing or an ocean view cabin with more room.
"With school back in session, Margaritaville at Sea is sending a special thanks to teachers, support staff and employees by offering an incredible rate to enjoy a quick getaway to the Caribbean," the cruise company said in a press release.
Travel must be booked by Aug. 28 for a departure date between now and Nov. 15.
