A brand new Co-op store has opened its doors in a Nottinghamshire village. On Thursday (June 1) Bilsthorpe Food Store welcomed shoppers on Eakring Road in Bilsthorpe.
The new Lincolnshire Co-op, which is an independent co-operative society, has created 15 new jobs and has 21 parking spaces including two disabled bays. The shop is open seven days a week from 7am to 10pm, where shoppers can find a wide range of groceries.
As well as this they offer freshly baked goods from Gadsby’s Bakery, based in Southwell. Manager at Bilsthorpe Food Store, Kyle Moore, said: “It’s been great to welcome so many customers into our new store, the team has been excited for opening day and the feedback we’ve received already is positive.

“The store looks great and we’re looking forward to developing strong relationships with members of the local community.”
A variety of eco-friendly services are also available in store, such as soft plastic recycling and a free water bottle refill station. Energy usage in stores is reduced by around 20%, due to the installation of fridge doors throughout.
Customers will be encouraged to become members of Lincolnshire Co-op, enabling them to collect dividends on their purchases including branded goods, as well as having access to a range of exclusive offers and events.
Already the branch is raising money through the co-operative’s Community Champions scheme, with funds going to Bilsthorpe Emergency Team from June 3, when the new Community Champions quarter begins.
There’s also a food bank collection point situated in the store, with all donations also going to Bilsthorpe Emergency Team , a group that provides emergency food and care packages to those in Bilsthorpe and the surrounding areas.
