The New Jersey Devils made a significant move by acquiring goaltender Jacob Markstrom from the Calgary Flames in a trade on Wednesday. This trade fulfilled the Devils' long-standing goal of adding Markstrom to their roster.
In exchange for Markstrom, the Devils sent defenseman Kevin Bahl, a promising 23-year-old standing at 6-foot-6, and a top-10 protected 2025 first-round pick to Calgary. Markstrom, a 34-year-old goaltender from Sweden, will join forces with fellow veteran Jake Allen to form a formidable goaltending tandem for the upcoming season. Allen was acquired by the Devils at the trade deadline in March.
