New Hotel plan for 'Nottingham's nicest street' welcomed by businesses

A new hotel could open up on what has been described as 'Nottingham's nicest street'. Two 18th century former town houses on High Pavement, Lace Market would be converted and extended to become a 'high quality hotel' if fresh plans are approved.

The vacant building was most recently used as an office by St Mary's Chambers, which practise family law and moved at the start of this year to Stoney Street. The existing layout over three-storeys would be changed by owners St. Mary’s Nottingham Ltd into new individual bedrooms with en-suites, with the exterior of the building along High Pavement retained to maintain the historic façade.

Antonio Oriente, 48, owner of Pizzamisu across the road, said the hotel would improve what he thought was the city's one of the city's "nicest streets". "This is one of the best and nicest streets in the city centre, with the Pitcher and Piano, the museum, gallery, and the church," Mr Oriente said.
