A new gym at Chilwell Retail Park opened its doors to customers on Friday (July 8) and it will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Gym Group is a national operator of 210 gyms across the country, and has opened a new site at the retail park off Barton Lane.
It's the fourth branch of The Gym to open in Nottingham, with existing gyms in the city centre, Radford and Sherwood. The site is 13,000 sq ft in size. To start with, there will be eight fitness trainers working at the site.
Chilwell Retail Park has brands such as TK Maxx, Matalan, Halfords, Sports Direct, McDonald's and Costa, among others. The Gym submitted proposals to Broxtowe Borough Council in October last year.

Oliver Tester, head of property acquisition at The Gym, said: "We are delighted to have opened our fourth gym in Nottingham, bringing us one step closer to reaching our 300+ site target by 2025. The pandemic has shown just how important physical and mental health is and we are proud to play a key role in promoting this across the country.
"We are focused on making everyone feel at home in our gyms - our friendly, approachable team members are excited to welcome the people of Chilwell as we open our doors."
The site will have free parking, and membership costs £12.99 per month for the first three months. The plans previously received mixed views when they were announced last year.
