An experienced hotelier has been appointed as the new general manager of The Gresham Aparthotel, Leicester.
Mark Hills takes on the role at the city centre hotel which opened inside the city’s former Fenwick store in November 2021, following a £17 million refurbishment. The 121-bed Aparthotel includes a restaurant and bar, a gym, and 12,000 sq ft of conference facilities and co-working spaces along with four commercial units.
Until recently Mr Hills was general manager of the Ibis Styles hotel in Hagley Road, Birmingham. Prior to that he spent two years managing the Holiday Inn, Kenilworth.
Before that he helped transform the Ramada Hotel & Suites by Wyndham in Coventry which has more than 160 rooms including 70 one-bedroom apartments and studios.
In his new role he hopes to make The Gresham a longer-stay destination of choice for people – particularly business people – visiting Leicester for more than just a few days.
He said: “I am thrilled to join The Gresham Aparthotel which is quickly becoming known far and wide as the place to stay in Leicester.
“From speaking to the staff and the guest reviews it is evident that everyone involved is truly passionate about every detail and level of service.
“The superb location combined with the flexibility offered by the stylish boutique apartments provide a real home from home experience which means that staying at The Gresham really suits people doing business.
“My aim is to support the team, building on the successes to date, so guests have the best experience possible and they keep returning and stay for even longer.”
Gresham chief executive Snizhana Yesaulenko said: “We are pleased to welcome Mark on board who is clearly an experienced hotelier which includes the city centre market as well as apartment style stays.
“We are truly grateful to The Gresham team for their dedication and know that Mark will be given a warm welcome to Leicester."
