A new summer bus route between Glasgow and London is launching this month ahead of next week's rail strikes.
Coach operator FlixBus announced the new service will be introduced on July 25 "to help consumers make the most of their summer while avoiding rail strikes and airport chaos". It also comes ahead of the launch of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival next week, which will bring hundreds of thousands of tourists to Scotland.
The new route will operate seven days a week between July and October. For those struggling financially amid the worsening cost of living crisis, it offers a far more affordable mode of transport than travelling by rail or plane.

With further rail strikes threatening to continue to cause chaos for travellers this month, FlixBus stated that it was prepared to "do what it takes to keep the country moving".
FlixBus UK Managing Director Andreas Schorling said: “While airports and airlines cancel flights, we’re adding even more journeys on our reliable, eco-friendly network to ensure everyone can enjoy staycations, day trips and visit loved ones this summer without breaking the bank."
Colin Napier, Group Operations Director at McGill’s commented: “We can see a strong appetite for sustainable travel to and from Scotland, so we’re excited to ramp up our offering in partnership with FlixBus and serve more passengers than ever before.”
Tickets can be purchased from www.flixbus.co.uk or the FlixBus App. Prices for the new route start at £2.99.
