New Glasgow comedy club looking to break into the city's entertainment scene

Glasgow has a new club looking to make its mark on the city's comedy scene.

Breakneck Comedy has established itself as one of the top entertainment spots in Aberdeen and now it is looking to expand its business south.

The venue on Whitfield Road, near Ibrox, will celebrate its opening on October 28 and 29.

However, the move is merely a small step in what is a nationwide expansion plan.

Founder, Naz Hussain, told Glasgow Live: "It feels really good to be opening a comedy club in Glasgow, it's just a stepping stone for other cities.

"We decided to open up in Glasgow because it seems to be where most of the competition is and it's one of those things where I feel like you have to go for the hardest city first."

Breakneck in the Granite City has hosted a number of well-known faces including Britain's Got Talent's the Lost Voice Guy and Larry Dean.

After announcing the move the owner has been overwhelmed by the supportive reaction of many Glaswegians and hopes to repay them with some truly spectacular shows.

He said: "We've had a positive reaction from a lot of local agencies and it has created a lot of buzz.

"We are calling it Glasgow's funniest comedy club because we feel like we can put on better line-ups than a lot of comedy clubs."

Their two opening nights will be setting the bar high with a familiar face from the telly and some up-and-coming talent in the industry taking to the stage

Naz revealed: "We have some cracking acts including Shazia Mirza, she's been on Loose Women, the Jonathan Ross show.

"We also have Weegie Hink Ae That? who have been flying recently. The compere is going to be Bill Dewar and we also have a guy called Joe McTernan.

"It's pretty much a triple headline bill.

"We want to let the people of Glasgow know there is actually a good alternative comedy."

It costs £15 for a ticket to the funny venue's must see opener.
