NEW Girl star Zooey Deschanel has announced her engagement while on a trip to Scotland.
The US actress is set to marry Property Brother Jonathan Scott, who reportedly popped the question at Edinburgh Castle.
The engagement came during a family trip to Scotland where the pair were pictured at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.
The couple announced the news on Monday via a joint Instagram post with the caption, “forever starts now!!!”.
Deschanel, 43, was photographed flashing her engagement ring alongside her 45-year-old fiance.
According to People magazine, Deschanel’s children, Elsie, eight, and Charlie, six, from her previous marriage to film producer Jacob Pechenik, played a special role in the proposal.
Scott has links to Scotland, as his father emigrated to Canada from Scotland as a teenager.
He has made repeated nods to his Scottish ancestry in the past - as he and twin brother Drew wore kilts at the latter's 2018 wedding ceremony.
Scott is known for hosting US real estate TV Show Property Brothers with his twin, where they use their skills and expertise to help potential home buyers renovate houses on a budget.
Deschanel and Scott have been together for four years. They met while filming an episode of Carpool Karaoke with James Corden in August 2019.
A number of celebrities commented on Deschanel’s post offering their best wishes.
Hannah Simone, who played Deschanel’s onscreen best friend, Cece, in New Girl, commented: “I LOVE YOU!! This is so wonderful.”
Mindy Kaling, creator of TV show The Mindy Project, said: “Omg!!! So amazing Zooey! Congrats!!”
Bryce Dallas Howard, who played Claire Dearing in Jurassic World, also offered her congratulations and so did Mad Men star January Jones.
In 2022, Deschanel and Scott starred in another episode of Carpool Karaoke: The Series, where they discussed their relationship.
Deschanel has been married twice before and wed Ben Gibbard, lead vocalist for the indie rock band Death Cab For Cutie, in 2009.
The couple divorced in 2012 and Deschanel went on to marry Pechenik in 2015.
