A major winter storm swept through New England, dumping over two feet of snow in some areas and causing widespread power outages across the Northeast. The storm led to treacherous road conditions, resulting in numerous accidents and downed power lines.

Central Maine Power, the state's largest utility, reported significant damage to trees, poles, and wires, leaving around 200,000 customers without power in Maine and an additional 80,000 in New Hampshire. Crews worked overnight to respond to emergency calls and make the affected areas safe.

As daylight broke on Sunday, crews began assessing the damage and initiating power restoration efforts, which are expected to be a multi-day endeavor in the hardest-hit areas. The company pre-staged 150 crews across their service area and additional crews were arriving to expedite the restoration process.

The storm brought heavy snowfall across the region, with some areas receiving over two feet of snow. South central Vermont saw snow totals exceeding 30 inches, making it one of the most significant winter storms of the season for some areas.

Despite the challenges posed by the storm, winter enthusiasts, including skiers, welcomed the snowfall. Ski resorts like Loon Mountain in New Hampshire anticipated improved conditions for the season ahead.

Meanwhile, major cities like New York and Boston experienced heavy rain and flooding, leading to power outages and transportation disruptions. The storm's impact extended to flight delays and cancellations at area airports.

Looking ahead, another significant winter storm is forecasted to affect the West, Rockies, Plains, and upper Midwest through Monday. This system is expected to bring heavy snowfall to several states, with potential accumulations of 8 to 12 inches in some areas.

Residents in northern Arizona are also bracing for unsettled weather, with snow showers and strong winds expected at higher elevations. The National Weather Service issued winter weather advisories for parts of the region, cautioning about hazardous conditions.

As communities work to recover from the recent storm, authorities are urging residents to stay informed and take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during these challenging weather conditions.
