New Edinburgh Black Sheep Coffee outlet to open as work begins inside empty shop

A new Black Sheep Coffee store is set to open in Edinburgh's city centre as a number of branches within the capital are given the go-ahead.

Internal alterations have begun inside the building at 32 George Street after the application was granted by the council to take over the vacant unit which was once a Jones Bootmaker shop.

Black Sheep, who are based in London, have earmarked several potential locations within the capital following the recent opening of their café on Princes Street. Another branch further along the historic thoroughfare, as well as locations on Shandwick Place and another at Haymarket have also been earmarked.

The company also have a spot at the popular St James Quarter which sells alcoholic drinks and cocktails, as well as another café on North Bridge which is open until 8.30pm.

On the company's site they say: “Serving the world’s first speciality grade Robusta Beans on the market, we are innovators in the coffee industry. With cafes, kiosks, and cocktail bars across the globe, come soak in the vibe and enjoy a perfect cup."

Selling hot and cold drinks, as well as a selection of re-heated and cold snacks, Black Sheep have become one of the leading speciality coffee roasters in the UK.

It is understood that the new café on George Street will continue to offer a takeaway service which generates the majority of the company's sales. For further updates, you can check out the Black Sheep Coffee website here.
