With the drop of a new patch, Funcom has finally given Dune: Awakening players a feature they've been asking for for months: character transfers.
The new feature is the big highlight of the new 1.2.40.0 update, with Funcom saying in the patch notes: "you can now transfer your character, inventory, backed-up bases and vehicles, and bank contents (including your Solari) to a new Sietch and World."
Dune: Awakening came out in June 2025, and it wasn't long before people started to look for ways to move their character over to a new server, typically because their current server gradually lost players and became inactive, making it hard to progress. Funcom said around launch that server transfers were in the works, so there was never a lot of doubt that they weren't, but I don't think people were expecting to wait this long.
Anyway, the feature is here now, letting you move your character and base over to another server, although there is a big caveat: you can only go from an official server over to another official server or to a private server; you can't take your character from a private to public server. Funcom didn't explain why, but it could be because private servers offer a more controlled environment that could give players an edge over those on public servers.
Here's how it works: First, you'll want to back up your base and vehicle using the appropriate tools for doing that - they'll disappear if you don't - and then store all of your valuables in the bank before the transfer (you'll be notified which items you'll lose before confirmation). Then, head to Hagga Basin to initiate the transfer, and so long as everything goes well, you'll spawn at Griffin's Reach in the new server.
Do keep in mind that you're allotted a transfer token that automatically replenishes weekly, limiting you to one server transfer per week. Otherwise, happy server hopping!
