VIJAYAWADA: Along with the reorganisation of Krishna district, Vijayawada commissionerate will see a rejig with the addition of new areas and shedding of some existing areas. After the reorganisation of districts, Vijayawada commissionerate will cover all of NTR-Vijayawada district with its limits till the Telangana border areas of Jaggaiahpet and Vatsavai.
While Nandigama sub-division, which is now part of Krishna police district, will be merged with Vijayawada commissionerate, areas like Mylavarama and Tiruvuru that are now under Nuzividu sub-division will also be merged with Vijayawada commissionerate.
Mylavaram and Tiruvuru circles will come under Nandigama sub-division, which will become the largest sub-division in Vijayawada police commissionerate. Nandigama sub-division will cover more than half of Vijayawada district. Along with Nandigama assembly constituency, Mylavaram, Tiruvuru and Jaggaiahpet constituencies will be covered under Nandigama sub-division. Only three assembly constituencies in Vijayawada city will form part of the rest of Vijayawada commissionerate, which will have three sub-divisions.
While the western part of the existing Krishna district will be merged in Vijayawada commissionerate, areas in the eastern part will be reorganised under Krishna district that will have as its geographical boundaries Machilipatnam parliamentary constituency.
