A new commission is needed to unlock the economic potential of the Canberra region and make it easier for governments and business to work on both sides of the ACT border and drive investment, a Labor MP says.
David Smith, the Labor member for Bean, called for the establishment of a "Capital Region Compact" and a joint economic commission established by agreement of the Commonwealth, ACT and NSW governments tasked with boosting the region's productivity.
