A new map shows where the cases of the new Arcturus variant of Covid are across the UK.
The new Omicron sub-variant has begun to spread across the world. As of April 17, there have been 120 cases of the Arctus virus reported in the UK, five of which proved fatal.
That’s according to figures from the UK Health Security Agency. The virus has spread across the country, and is present in all but one region - the North East.

London is the current hotspot, with 31 confirmed cases. That’s followed by the North West with 22 cases, then the South East with 19, and the East of England with 10.
Wales has eight cases, the West Midlands has six, Scotland has five, the East Midlands four, the South West three, Northern Ireland two, Yorkshire & the Humber one, and the North East none.
