New positive Covid tests dropped by 6,500 in the Liverpool City Region in just a week.
According to the latest data from Public Health England, the Liverpool City Region had 13,067 covid infections in the seven days ending January 19 - that's 6,574 fewer infections than the previous week.
That meant the LCR's week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 34%.

Each area of the city region had drops in infections for the fourteenth day in a row. The drops were 37% in Knowsley; 38% in Liverpool; 25% in Halton; 35% in St Helens; 34% in Sefton; and 28% in Wirral.
West Lancashire and Warrington, Cheshire West and Chester, and Warrington had falls in infections in the week ending January 19. Nationally, England also saw a drop in positive Covid tests in the week ending January 19.

Liverpool
Liverpool's positive tests came to 3,738 cases in the week ending January 19, which is 2,296 fewer cases than the previous week.
This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure fell by 38%.
The latest infection rate was 746.9 cases per 100,000 people.
Wirral
Wirral's positive tests came to 3,027 cases in the week ending January 19, which is 1,170 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.
This meant the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 28%.
The latest infection rate was 933.3 cases per 100,000 people.
Halton
There were 1,344 positive tests over the last week - that's 444 fewer cases than in the previous week.
This means the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 25% in Halton in the week ending January 19.
The latest infection rate is 1,035.8 cases per 100,000 people.
St Helens
There was a total of 1,531 cases in the week ending January 19, which is 822 fewer cases than in the previous week.
The latest infection rate in St Helens is 845.4 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure dropped by 35%.
Knowsley
There was a total of 1,246 cases in the week ending January 19, which is 717 fewer cases than in the previous week.
The latest infection rate in Knowsley is 817.3 cases per 100,000 people and the week-on-week percentage change figure decreased by 37%.
Sefton
Sefton had a total of 2,181 cases in the week ending January 19, which is a 1,125 fewer cases than in the previous week.
The latest infection rate is 790.5 cases per 100,000 people and the number of cases fell by 34% week on week.
Liverpool City Region
There were 13,067 positive tests over in the week ending January 19, which is 6,574 fewer cases than in the previous week.
This means the week-on-week percentage change fell by 34%. The latest infection rate is 767.41 cases per 100,000 people.
Warrington
There were 1,957 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 19, which is 663 fewer cases than the previous week.
The week-on-week percentage figure dropped by 25%. There was an infection rate of 934.59 per 100,000 people.
West Lancs
West Lancashire recorded 1,051 coronavirus cases in the week ending January 19, which is 337 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.
This meant there was a week-on-week percentage figure dropped by 24%. The infection rate was 917.93 per 100,000 people.
Cheshire West and Chester
There were 3,613 positive Covid-19 tests in the week ending January 19, which is 320 fewer cases than the previous week.
The latest infection rate is 1,050.83 cases per 100,000 people, and there was a week-on-week percentage decrease of 8% in cases.
England
In the week ending January 19, England recorded 557,096 coronavirus cases, which is 84,580 fewer cases than in the previous seven days.
There was a week-on-week percentage drop of 13% in cases nationally, and there was an infection rate of 985.14 per 100,000 people.
