A new contraflow bus lane will open in Dublin City Centre later this month ahead of the rollout of BusConnects' Spine-G.
The bus lane will open on Winetavern Street between Wood Quay and Nicholas St on September 26 and two general traffic lanes will be maintained. The lane will assist bus services throughout the city centre and provide a new link from the north side to the south side of the city.
It will serve the new Spine-G bus routes between Spencer Dock with the Red Cow Luas Stop/Liffey Valley that are due to be rolled out on October 16. Until then, it will initially facilitate driver training and junction signal optimisation.

There will be traffic management on site for the first few weeks as people get used to the changes. The bus lane will also see new traffic lane arrangements put in place on Winetavern Street and Nicholas Street.
Only buses and cyclists will be permitted to use the lane. The project also sees the implementation protected southbound cycle lanes on Winetavern Street and a new bus stop heading southbound.
