A commercial development designed to cater to the post-COVID office landscape is slated for Newcastle CBD.
Altim Property has submitted its development application for an 11-storey boutique commercial building at 810 Hunter Street.
Designed by Newcastle architect company SDA, the building features floor plates of 400 to 600 square metres to appeal to small businesses and corporate tenants looking to reduce their office footprint from the traditional 1,500 square metres.
"The whole concept behind the development is that the commercial landscape is changing," Altim Property developer Ian Summers said.
"People still need commercial buildings but typically, they are looking for smaller spaces post-COVID, and inclusions such as outdoor balconies."
The development proposal includes an 8-storey exterior green wall on the western side of the building.
"The big feature for us is the large green wall which will be the first of its kind in the CBD, which is something we are really excited about," Mr Summers said.
"We are committed to raising the bar on design for the Newcastle CBD and we've worked closely with a local landscape architect David Moir to ensure the green wall is sustainable and practical."
The strata title development has 3,800 square metres of office space and 55 car parks, with prices starting from $499,000 plus GST.
