Hapless freedom fighters, the Dundonald Liberation Army are back with a brand-new comedy, ‘Lockdown DLA’ coming to The MAC, Belfast in September.
Written by Stephen Large, the scene is set on March 23, 2020 when Boris Johnson announces the UK’s first national lockdown.
The social media page Dundonald Liberation Army, created by Large, has amassed nearly 80,000 followers on Facebook and Twitter and is a satirical cross-community paramilitary organisation.

"Lockdown DLA" tells the story of reputed Dundonald Liberation Army boss Davy "The Venezuelan" Taylor and his right-hand man John "Horse" McCracken, being forced to isolate together in their high-rise flat.
From panic buying toilet rolls and baking banana bread to leaving the house for essential items only (Buckfast and inflatable hot tubs are essential, right?), the play follows Davy and Horse as they navigate their way through those unprecedented times at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Writer Stephen Large is known for his work with BBC Comedy, including the sketch show, Late Licence their Brexit-themed sitcom, Soft Border Patrol and online series Tight Shorts.
His previous stage comedies, ‘Carol’s Christmas’, ‘Three’s A Shroud’ and ‘A Dog DLA Afternoon’ (2019) have been sell-out successes in venues including the Grand Opera House and Waterfront Hall.
Matthew McElhinney is set to reprise his role as Davy "The Venezuelan" Taylor and Matthew Forsythe returns as the ever-undependable deputy, John "Horse" McCracken, in this production of Lockdown DLA.
The production is directed by Gerard McCabe who trained at The Lir National Academy Dramatic Arts, Dublin, and Rainbow Factory School of Performing Arts, Belfast and is produced by Soda Bread Theatre Company.
'Lockdown DLA' will run from September 14 to 18 in The MAC Belfast, tickets on sale now.
