New coffee shop will 'complement' Nottinghamshire village centre

Plans have been approved for a new coffee shop with the expectation that it will "complement" a Nottinghamshire village. An application was put forward earlier this year to convert the bottom floor of a flat in Main Street, East Leake, into a food and drink shop, with plans being approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council in February.

It is anticipated that the cafe will sell hot and cold drinks, snacks such as cakes, as well as warm foods. The application has been deemed "consistent with the commercial role of the village centre."

A car parking area is also accessible at the back of the building. A design and access statement laid out the plans for the new coffee shop.

It read: "The anticipation is that the use will involve the sale of hot and cold drinks, and snacks such as cakes and pastries, together with the warming and preparation of prepared foods (sausage rolls etc). There will be minimal food preparation – for example eggs and bacon, but the anticipation is that this will be small scale and capable of being prepared on small scale portable equipment."

Mike Sibthorp Planning will be carrying out the development.
