The Henderson Group is proposing to build a new EUROPSAR in Downpatrick, creating 50 jobs in the process.
The work would see £2.8m spent on creating the new store on the Ardglass Road.
The group said a similar number of jobs would be created in the construction industry while the proposed store was being built.
