The Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, citing sources in aviation agencies, reported that investigators are preparing to state in their final report that the crash may have occurred after a pilot intentionally turned off the aircraft's fuel switches. The publication highlighted that no technical defect was found in the aircraft, suggesting human intervention as the only plausible cause.
Key evidence cited includes cockpit voice recordings, cleaned of background noise, which reportedly identify the pilot who moved the fuel switch “from RUN to CUTOFF.” The pilot at the center of the report is Sumeet Sabharwal, the flight commander, who died in the crash.
