Prospective Chelsea owners must now prioritise launching a new transfer model at Stamford Bridge following Liverpool's latest piece of business. Jurgen Klopp's side, who have made a habit of making shrewd investments, have now armed their frontline with Fulham wonderkid and former Blues target Fabio Carvalho, according to The Guardian.
The 19-year-old's arrival follows Harvey Elliott, who swapped Craven Cottage for Anfield nearly three years ago. The Reds have finalised a deal for Carvalho worth just £7.7m — which includes add-ons — ending a transfer pursuit that saw Chelsea among those interested.
In January, Liverpool came close to snatching the England youth international from the Blues' grasp. Still, a deal failed to materialise on deadline day. In November, Thomas Tuchel's side registered interest in Carvalho, according to Eurosport; Chelsea's ongoing failure to wrap up canny deals calls for a transfer model makeover.

Carvalho's arrival in Merseyside follows a string of impressive arrivals for which the west Londoners have struggled to join the queue. In recent months, Luis Diaz, Ibrahima Konate and Diogo Jota have all penned deals with the Reds and have all gone on to transcend the expectation that their price tag warrants.
While Chelsea has also enjoyed various smart-spending deals of their own, the club's obliviousness in the transfer market has only gone so far as Edouard Mendy and Mateo Kovacic. Whether it be naivety, an obsession or pressure to spend eye-watering amounts, the Blues have struggled to prove a method to their madness.
However, the west London side may be in luck if Todd Boehly's bid to take the club off Roman Abramovich's hands proves successful. The American billionaire's consortium is reportedly eager to replicate the approach Fenway Sports Group (FSG) have employed at Liverpool.
In a report from The Athletic, details emerged that Boehly is expected to recreate the model in place at Anfield at Stamford Bridge. If the report is to be believed, then Tuchel could soon be relishing a flurry of astute signings.
